The Kalachakra Tantra is classified as a Mother Tantra of the Anuttarayoga Tantra. This Tantra is presented in five chapters and it discusses the three Kalachakras: External Kalachakra, Internal Kalachakra, and Alternative Kalachakra. The External Kalachakra is an external cosmos, discussing the interdependence of the universe and its dependence on the paternal cosmos. The cosmology and astrology of Tibetan Buddhism are also derived from this Tantra.
