Shakyamuni buddha Thangka Painting
We are a wholesale supplier of Shakyamuni Buddha thangka art and paintings from Nepal. The Shakyamuni Buddha Thangka painting symbolizes the teachings of the Buddha at the time of his enlightenment. Shakyamuni Buddha meditative posture depicted in the painting is reflective of the practices of Buddhism, meditation, and yoga. This artwork serves as a reminder of the importance of spiritual growth and the power of meditation. All of the paintings are crafted by artisans from Buddhist monasteries and Tibetan communities in Nepal. Since the Chinese invasion of Tibet, many Tibetans have sought refuge in Nepal, and some of these refugees have become highly skilled artists, creating valuable thangka art paintings.
Sakyamuni Buddha was born over two and a half millennia ago in Lumbini, Nepal. He was known as Siddhartha Gautama, the son of King Suddhodana and Queen Mayadevi, and a prince of royal heritage. At the age of 29, he renounced his luxurious lifestyle and embarked on a spiritual journey, subjecting himself to extreme ascetic practices for six strenuous years. At the age of 35, after gaining profound insight into the true nature of reality (Dharma), he attained complete enlightenment. For the remainder of his life, the Buddha (Awakened One) traveled far and wide, teaching the Dharma to people of all walks of life, so that they too could end suffering and attain awakening.
The moment of the Buddha's enlightenment was marked by the Bhumisparshana Mudra, the gesture of touching the earth. According to Buddhist Sutras, the sun and moon stood still, and all the creatures of the world came to offer their respects to the Supreme One who had transcended the boundaries of ego. All Buddhist art celebrates this momentous occasion, and serves as a reminder of the possibility of enlightenment. As the Buddha himself said, "Don't look at me, but to the enlightened state."
The earliest anthropomorphic depictions of the Buddha are said to have been created from rays of golden light radiating from his body. Subsequent Buddhist artworks depicted the Buddha in various forms, but always as a representation of human potential, never as a historically identifiable individual. All representations of the Buddha, however, are typically shown seated on a lotus throne, symbolizing the open space of the mind, which can ascend through the chaos of its own experience to reach the boundless realm of unconditional awareness.
